Want someone to like your gift? Wrap it poorly!

If you’re not sure if someone will like the holiday gift you got them, don’t wrap it very well. According to an article in the Journal of Consumer Psychology, people are more inclined to like what’s inside if the presents are wrapped poorly. They say that if someone sees a perfectly wrapped gift, they’ll expect what’s inside to be pretty spectacular as well and are then almost surely in for a letdown. However, a poorly wrapped gift led to lower expectations and what’s inside is likely to exceed what the person is expecting.
