If you ever thought that all pigeons look the same, then you’ve never seen a pink pigeon before. Actually, no one has, which is why animal rescuers in New York knew something was afoul when they saw one in Madison Square Park.
Members of the Wild Bird Fund rescued the pigeon which had been dyed pink and also smelled like perfume. It was severely malnourished and had an eye injury. The organization took custody of the bird and is now caring for it. They’ve also appropriately named the pigeon Flamingo. It’s unknown what was used to dye the pigeon pink or who would have done it, but many believe it was possibly used for a gender reveal party.
Pigeons come in many different colors, but pink isn’t one of them. This king pigeon was deliberately dyed and released. As a domestic bird unable to find food in the wild, fly well or escape predators, this poor kid had it bad enough before being dyed.
