Skype Is Shutting Down After Two Decades

Microsoft has announced it will shut down Skype on May 5th.

The tech giant announced on X that the once-popular internet-based phone and video service will no longer be available starting in May and is instead encouraging its remaining users to move over to Microsoft Teams instead, which they can do right now for free with their existing Skype account.

Skype was once a pioneer in video calling, but its user base has dramatically declined over the years due  to competition from other platforms like Zoom and Google Meet. (Reuters)
