When the Canadian Broadcast Company aired Home Alone 2: Lost in New York earlier this week, viewers who know the 1992 film noticed something missing — Donald Trump’s cameo.
A scene in which Kevin McCallister (Macaulay Culkin) encounters Trump for a few seconds inside the Plaza Hotel was mysteriously edited out. Social media immediately jumped on the CBC. One Twitter user wrote, “Don’t love Trump, but come on folks – your hysteria over this man has risen to a new fervor. Guessing he’ll be scrubbed from history books, too?” Another tweeted, “Welcome to the liberal government-controlled media.”
The CBC defended the omission explaining it was done “to allow for commercial time within the format.” (FOX News)
The network should have known viewers would notice the scene missing. It brought this criticism on itself.
