A cargo plane from New York to Belgium was forced to turn around and return to JFK International Airport when a horse got loose on board. That’s right, a horse.
The plane, operated by Air Atlanta Icelandic, had just gotten over the Atlantic Ocean when the horse broke loose. The pilot got on the radio and told air traffic control they would need to return to JFK. He explained, “The horse managed to escape his stall. We don’t have a problem flying-wise, but we need to return back to New York; we cannot get the horse back secured.”
Once the plane returned to JFK, a veterinarian boarded the plane to examine the horse and make sure it was alright. Once the horse was safely secured in its stall, the flight took off again and later landed safely in Belgium.
