Willie Nelson just got a slightly-late 90th birthday present: an impending induction into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame. The country music legend is one of 7 acts announced yesterday as the Class of 2023, along with Kate Bush, Rage Against the Machine, Missy Elliott, Sheryl Crow, George Michael and the Spinners. There are 6 other inductees picked by a select Hall of Fame committee: singer Chaka Khan, instrumentalist-producer Al Kooper and lyricist Bernie Taupin, all in the “musical excellence” category; plus pioneering guitarist Link Wray and hip-hop originator DJ Kool Herc in the “musical influence” division; and “Soul Train” TV host Don Cornelius as the recipient of the Ahmet Ertegun Award. The induction ceremony will take place Nov. 3 at Barclays Center in Brooklyn.

Here’s Easton Corbin helping a fan do an onstage proposal during his show last Saturday in Green Bay, Wisconsin.  He paused while performing “Marry That Girl” . . . so the guy could drop to one knee and work his magic.  Easton is set to perform at the Winneshiek County Fair on Friday, July 14th.

MORGAN WALLEN is being sued by a fan for canceling his concert in Oxford, MS just minutes before showtime on Sunday (April 23rd). ‘Page Six’ reports that BRANDI BURCHAM filed a class action lawsuit “on behalf of herself and all other similarly situated” concertgoers who attended the show at Vaught-Hemingway Stadium but were unable to see Morgan perform because according to him, he was “unable to sing.” Burcham is suing for breach of contract and negligence in addition to demanding a trial by jury.

And it doesn’t end there….

The security company hired to work at MORGAN WALLEN’s shows in Mississippi is denouncing a statement made by one of their own employees who worked the show on Sunday (April 23rd). In a video shared on social media, this particular security guard told fans at the venue the reason the show was canceled was because Morgan was “too drunk” to perform, that he “couldn’t walk,” and that an “ambulance took him.” He added that the “losing his voice” story is “bull crap.” However, BEST Crowd Management released a statement saying, “A hired employee of BEST Crowd Management made false claims as it related to last night’s Morgan Wallen concert and we do not stand behind the detail in his statement.”

Carrie Gillaspie is a digital reporter for the Kansas City Royals baseball team. She recently arrived at Kauffman Stadium in Kansas City for work and heard a strange sound coming from another vehicle in the parking lot.

It was an animal whimpering.

Carrie located the owner of the car, who happened to be her co-worker Ashley Newman.

Ashley unlocked the car and popped the hood. When Ashley and Carrie looked at the engine of the car, they saw two little eyeballs looking up at them.

A dog had climbed into Ashley’s car and traveled 30 miles to the stadium.

Carrie and Ashley got some help from other co-workers, who safely removed the dog from the tight spot.

They then worked with a nearby shelter to locate the owner of the dog.

It all worked out. The dog went on a wild ride — and luckily survived by holding on for dear life. And now, the dog has been reunited with its owner, hopefully for good, without any more dangerous adventures in the future.

Sharon Rosel of British Columbia spotted a bear going through her car and drinking cans of soda that had been left there overnight. Rosel woke up around three in the morning on Thursday and found the thirsty bruin. “He was drinking massive amounts of soda,” Rosel said. She watched the bear make a mess and slurp her beverages for over an hour. It stopped when it reached the diet cola and drank a total of 69 cans. Rosel said, “I tried psyching him out by telling him I was a bear hunter. That didn’t do anything either, so I had to stand by and just watch him devour my car.”

As the first anniversary of Naomi Judd’s death looms on April 30, Paramount+ and CMT have announced “Wynonna Judd: Between Hell and Hallelujah”, a documentary following her as she navigates the next phase of her life and career without her mother. It premieres on the service on April 26 in the US and internationally on July 19.

Did you know that Netflix is still sending out DVDs in envelopes to customers around the country? Well, that service will finally end on September 29th as the company announced they “will send out our last red envelope” on that day. The company first started renting and selling DVDs by mail in 1997. They quickly ditched selling them and in September 1999 introduced the monthly subscription model. The company started its streaming service in 2007.

“Yellowstone” is ending after months of turmoil behind the scenes. The New York Post says the Paramount Network drama’s offscreen drama has ultimately led to the show’s demise at the end of Season 5, which is currently in production. One source is quoted as saying: “Hopefully Kevin (Costner) will return for the remaining episodes, if everyone works together, but it looks like Yellowstone will end after this season.” As multiple reports have noted, Yellowstone’s trouble stems from a disagreement between Costner and the show’s creative mastermind Taylor Sheridan. Costner was allegedly not happy with his shooting schedule, and Sheridan is said to have become tired of the actor holding up production.

A pizza delivery man in Delaware County, Pennsylvania stopped a suspected car thief by tripping him while delivering a pie. Home camera footage shows Tyler, a Cocco’s Pizza employee, holding a pizza box and sticking out a leg when the fleeing suspect crossed his path. The suspect appears to fall and is apprehended by police. Tyler claims he did nothing out of the ordinary, and that the Brookhaven Police Department was grateful for the help.

The Academy of Country Music has announced the nominations for this year’s ACM Awards taking place May 11th in Frisco, Texas. The show will stream live on Prime Video.

After witnessing the heart the players from this year’s womens college basketball championship possessed on the court, First Lady JILL BIDEN suggested that the President invite both teams to the White House following the tight game. While the Iowa women’s basketball team fought hard, LSU reigned supreme as this year’s champions. After fans were upset, Biden suggested both teams should attend the exclusive White House visit. Her press secretary tweeted out a series of posts clarifying that she is excited to celebrate: “the LSU Tigers on their championship win at the White House.”

Iowa Hawkeyes star CAITLIN CLARK was named Naismith National Player of the Year yesterday. The junior guard edged out 2022 winner ALIYAH BOSTON of South Carolina and other finalists including MADDY SIEGRIST of Villanova and ELIZABETH KITLEY of Virginia Tech. Clark will be with the Hawkeyes for Friday’s Final Four game against the South Carolina Gamecocks.

It’s good to be Caitlin Clark and the Iowa Hawkeyes!  She has led Iowa to its first Final Four appearance since 1993, and now she is getting her own bobblehead!  The Iowa Cubs announced on social media yesterday the “Caitlin Clark Bobblehead Bundle”.  You get a ticket to the Cubs game on June 3rd, and the bobblehead for $30.

The Academy of Country Music, Prime Video, and Dick Clark Productions announced today that global superstars Dolly Parton and Garth Brooks will host the 58th Academy of Country Music Awards on Thursday night, May 11 live from The Star in Frisco, TX.  The show will once again air on exclusively on Prime Video.  A rebroadcast will stream the next day for free on Amazon Freevee.

It’s always been a dream of mine to catch a homerun ball at a ball game, still working on that dream…On Saturday at the Dodgers-Royals spring training game, a K-9 snagged a homerun ball!  Take a look at the video below.

A family’s pet pig out of Illinois is turning heads with his extreme skateboarding skills. Norbert the pig has learned to ride and is now blowing up on the internet. Vincent and Alicen Baran of Buffalo Grove are the owners of Norbert, the 150-pound pig. They say Norbert has become a familiar sight around town doing his tricks.  NEW HAMPTON, Iowa – March 16, 2023 – Motorists driving in McGregor in the coming weeks will notice construction work taking place along Iowa 76/Main Street beginning on Monday, March 20, weather permitting. Initial utility work not impacting traffic will begin in preparation for a two-year concrete pavement replacement project.

Starting on Monday, April 3, and throughout the entire 2023 construction season, construction will occur in stages on Iowa 76/Main Street between River Street and B Street. This will require closing access into McGregor from the north to allow installation of utilities, concrete pavement and sidewalk replacement, and lighting.

Motorists will follow a signed detour route using U.S. 18 and Iowa 76 to reach McGregor from the west. Changeable message signs will be in place along the route to provide any updates for future traffic pattern changes and temporary signs will identify street routes to businesses and parking.

Help keep everyone on the road safer. Drive with caution, obey the posted speed limit and other signs in the work area, and be aware that traffic fines for moving violations are at least double in work zones. As in all work zones, you should stay alert, allow ample space between vehicles, and wear seat belts.

Luke announced the big news on social media yesterday (Monday, March 20th) with a short video of pictures of him with his wife and nine-month-old son, TEX, wearing a t-shirt that reads “big brother.” The caption reads, “Joining the 2 under 2 club! Baby boy #2 coming this September!!” The song playing in the post is a new one called “Take You With Me” which will be featured on his new album, ‘Gettin’ Old,’ due out on Friday (March 24th).

Potato chips are Americans’ favorite snack to munch on, as we eat about 1.85 billion pounds of them each year. That’s about six pounds of chips for each person. So as you crunch away on your favorite chips today, here are some interesting facts you may not have known:

• Potato chips are believed to be a top contributor to weight gain because they are high in fat and highly addictive.
• That bag of chips is actually not full of air. It’s full of nitrogen gas, which prevents the chips from oxidizing.
• Lay’s was the first successfully marketed national brand of potato chip.
• The British call them “crisps.”
• The earliest known potato chip recipe is found in a cookbook titled The Cook’s Oracle, which was published in 1817.
• It takes 10,000 pounds of potatoes to make 2,500 pounds of potato chips.
• The average chip is between .04 and .08 of an inch thick.
• Pennsylvania is the leading producer of potato chips in the world.
• Lay’s Potato Chips was the first snack food advertised on television.
• Pringles are technically not chips since they are made from a dough formed from dried potatoes.

A man named Michael Hugo has stage four cancer, and the prognosis is not good.  He’s the father of two young daughters . . . ages six and seven . . . and in a Facebook post last month he asked Tim McGraw to record a video of them singing a duet of “My Little Girl” so each daughter can someday play it at their wedding.  Tim agreed to do it.  Here’s Michael talking about his wish . . .

Women have been creating things since before there even was a patent system. Now, patents should help women get the credit they deserve for inventions that are used worldwide. That doesn’t mean that the credit always goes where it’s due, so let’s remind you of some of the go-to items that we wouldn’t even have if it weren’t for women.

These are some of the things you might not have known were invented by women:

• Paper bags — Margaret Knight came up with the idea of the flat-bottom bags in 1868.
• Kevlar — This high-tensile material that’s up to five times stronger than steel was accidentally invented in a lab by Stephanie Kwolek. She earned a patent for the invention in 1966.
• Foot-pedal trash cans — Lillian Gilbreth invented many things that help make our lives easier. On top of the foot-pedal device, she also designed shelves to go inside refrigerator doors, wall-light switches and easier-to-use can openers.
• The game of Monopoly — Elizabeth Magie created The Landlord’s Game to teach a lesson about the disadvantages of renting and the economic theory of Georgism. She got bought out of her patent by the Parker Brothers and did not receive any royalties for her work.
• Windshield wipers — Mary Anderson knew there was a safer way to drive in the rain and snow, so she created the first manual wipers in 1903. Charlotte Bridgwood invented the automatic version in 1917.
• Disposable diapers — Marion Donovan knew there was a better option than cloth for her baby’s diapers. That’s why she created the waterproof diaper cover (which was sold at Saks Fifth Avenue) before eventually creating an entirely disposable model.

Audio recording of CLAY WALKER verbally dressing down his bus driver has been leaked. The expletive-filled and threatening rant seems to be the result of the driver being late. Via a statement to ‘Country Now,’ Clay said, “This happened over a year ago and it came at the end of a long, tough weekend. A Janesville, Wisconsin man is getting some attention after renting a billboard to advertise himself as “Wisconsin’s Number One Bachelor”. Robert Siegfried feels like he’s exhausted all of his dating options and is trying to find the one. Robert said his “dating” sign will pop up in more locations around the Janesville area in the coming days. Apparently it’s not all rosy for Robert, court records show he had a restraining order put in place against him last year. Anyway, good luck on finding love!

A “whiskey fungus” has been covering homes, cars, and even trees near the Jack Daniel’s Distillery in Lynchburg, Tennessee.

Vapors from the whiskey barrels are accelerating the growth of the fungus in the community. It’s also very resilient. While there are no known negative effects on humans, locals have had to power-wash their homes to get rid of the substance. Residents have asked Jack Daniel’s to cover the cost of washing their homes, and one has gone so far as to sue Lincoln County. “Could it be a nuisance?” a Jack Daniel’s rep said. “Yeah, sure. And it can easily be remedied by having it washed off.”

A Nebraska cheerleader decided to prove that you don’t need other people to have a team. She competed in State Championships alone after her entire cheerleading team quit in the weeks leading up to the competition. Katrina Kohel said she got nervous and her mind went blank before getting on that stage solo, but she reassured herself that it would be all right. And it was! The crowd cheered her on and supported her the entire time. She actually finished 8th out of the 12 squads that showed up. Not too shabby.

According to an annual poll, the tooth fairy is giving 16% more per tooth this year compared to 2022. In 2022, a tooth was worth about $5.36, but now kids can expect about $6.23 for their baby teeth. The survey polled 1,000 parents with children between 6 and 12 years of age. If this inflation rate holds, a single tooth will be worth $30 in 2048.

A pizza shop in Ohio is creating controversy after posting a banner saying it is “Now hiring non-stupid people.”  Santino’s Pizzeria in Columbus area has gone viral for the large red and white sign posted out front the restaurant.  Manager Heather Stockton said the sign was “supposed to be a joke,” adding, “Instead of judging our signs, why don’t you come judge our pizzas?”
