Reba McEntire’s Mother Dies
Reba McEntire’s mother, Jacqueline, 93, died on March 14.
Reba shared the news via Instagram, which you can read below.
Our Mother, Jacqueline McEntire, made that wonderful cross over into Heaven today. She had a wonderful, full, healthy life and was absolutely ready to go. The cancer might think it won the battle but we?re giving God all the credit on selecting the time for her to go home to Him. She was ready to see our Daddy, her mama and daddy and all her family and friends.
Down here, Alice, Pake, Susie and I, grandkids and great grandkids all got to visit with her either in person or over the phone. She left knowing how much she is loved and we all know how much she loved us.
We are very thankful for all the prayers, cards, calls, visits, the care-givers with their huge hearts, and the time God gave us with Mama.
Jackie, Jac, Ms McEntire, Mama, Mama Jac, Momo Jac, Grandma, Grandma Jac, whatever the title was at the time – she gave you her undivided attention. We’re all going to miss her but we have so many wonderful memories.
Thank you Lord for that.
In lieu of flowers, the family lovingly asks that memorials be sent to the Reba McEntire Fund to benefit the Jacqueline McEntire Library Fund.

WIAA Cancels All Remaining Winter State Tournament Series Events
STEVENS POINT, Wis. The Wisconsin Interscholastic Athletic Association determined all remaining games of the State Girls Basketball Tournament, and the boys basketball sectional finals and the State Tournament will be canceled in response to the evolving concerns over the spread of COVID-19.
The WIAA regrets the lost opportunity for teams and players that have worked to achieve their goals and the communities that have supported them throughout the year.
“I want the student-athletes and their coaches to know that your school leaders, the WIAA Executive Staff, all our committees and the Board of Control have done everything imaginable to try to provide and preserve these opportunities for you,” Executive Director Dave Anderson said. “However, we want and need to be responsible in helping the global and state efforts to stem the tide and spread of this virus.”
Earlier today, the WIAA was informed the Kohl Center would not be available for the State Boys Basketball Tournament scheduled for March 19-21. Many professional, collegiate and high school associations have postponed or canceled scheduled events as a result of the pandemic.
Tickets for the WIAA Girls and Boys State Basketball tournaments will be refunded in full. Please allow staff time to make these refunds and contact the WIAA office only if you do not see a refund to your account within two weeks of the tournament.
Any tickets purchased at school will be refunded by your school and not the Resch Center or the WIAA.

Coronavirus Predicted in 2008
Congratulations to psychic Sylvia Browne, who predicted the coronavirus pandemic.
A page from her book has been shared on social media. Kim Kardashian tweeted it last night to her 64 million followers.
Brown wrote the book End of Days, which was published in 2008. She wrote that in the year “2020 a severe pneumonia-like illness will spread throughout the globe, attacking the lungs and the bronchial tubes and resisting all known treatments.”
In her crystal ball, Sylvia Browne also saw that this disease would miraculously “vanish as quickly as it arrived” only to return years later.

Kenny Chesney Announces New Album
Kenny Chesney will release his 19th studio album, Here and Now, on May 1. Longtime collaborator Buddy Cannon co-produced the album, with additional production assistance from Ross Copperman.
“When you’re this far into a career, I think artists need to keep pushing themselves and the music without losing sight of who they are, or forgetting the people you make music for,” says Kenny. “No Shoes Nation is a very passionate place without borders. I get inspired every time I see and hear them. These are passionate people who work really hard. They make a difference in their community in all kinds of ways, giving back not so people think they’re good, but because that’s who they are and what they do. When they listen to music, they’re all in–and when they hear something they like, you can feel it in how they respond.”
Much of the album was written and recorded over the last 18 months, including the title track, which is currently No. 23 on Billboard?s Country Airplay chart after two weeks. Penned by Craig Wiseman, David Garcia and David Lee Murphy at a writing retreat Kenny set up in Malibu, the new tune beckons listeners to live in the present with a chorus that proclaims: “You and me, ain’t it good to be alive / Ain’t no better place, ain’t no better time / Than here and now.”
“You know, [the album is] going to have a high fun factor,” says Kenny. “People work hard, and need music that makes them smile, that kicks them into a happy place. There are also songs here that look at very specific people, that tell one person’s story, but it could be any of us. That’s the mark of a good song: let one person’s specific life say so much about a lot of people’s lives. And one of the things I really wanted (for Here and Now) was to bring a lot of my favorite writers together, not to do ‘writing camp,’ but just hang out and talk, remember when it was the stories and laughs that sparked songs, not sitting down to churn out something to cut.”

Sunday Road Trip To Harmony
With it feeling like spring on the first day of March, we decided to take a little road trip after church. Where did the road lead us??? Harmony Minnesota!
I’ve always enjoyed visiting Harmony…..Here are a few pics from the day.
We grabbed lunch at a restaurant downtown.
We stopped by a local antique store….Lucy thought the Elvis phone was pretty cool…
Neat to see some local towns on these vintage butter and ice cream cartons…
After we had lunch, we saw a statue downtown. We thought it was pretty cool and Lucy wanted to get her picture by it. She called it “The Guy”. So after we got done at the antique shop, we swung back to downtown and Lucy got her pic with “The Guy”. Hope you enjoyed the spring like weather too!!! -EK

Each States Favorite Romantic Comedy
With Valentines Day closing in fast, Comparitech compiled research from Google Trends to find out each states favorite romantic comedy. Iowa’s favorite rom-com is “The Philadelphia Story”. Over in Wisconsin the favorite is “Bringing Up Baby”. The favorite rom-com in Minnesota is “His Girl Friday”. Check out more details about their research below.
The majority of these rom-coms are from the past four decades, but there are also a handful of older classics that have made it to the top.
- His Girl Friday – Popular in Michigan, Minnesota, and North Carolina, His Girl Friday was released in 1940. It’s a screwball comedy featuring Rosalind Russell and Cary Grant who play ex-husband and -wife. Grant (a newspaper editor called Walter Burns) tries to stop Russell (an investigative reporter called Hildy Johnson) from settling into domestic life with her new fiancé.
- Roman Holiday – A must-see in Virginia, Roman Holiday is a 1953 classic starring Audrey Hepburn and Gregory Peck. The movie sees Hepburn, a princess, running away to explore Rome before falling in love with American news reporter, Peck.
- Bringing Up Baby – Loved by those in Wisconsin, Bringing Up Baby is our oldest featured film. Released in 1938, it’s another screwball comedy with Cary Grant. But this one also features Katharine Hepburn as impulsive heiress, Susan Vance, who turns straightlaced scientist Huxley’s (Grant) world upside down.
A few states favored movies that were shot in their own backyard, including:
- Alaska for The Proposal: Starring Sandra Bullock and Ryan Reynolds, The Proposal sees Margaret (Bullock), a New York editor, trying to convince Andrew (Reynolds) to marry her so he can receive a promotion (and she can fight off her imminent deportation to Canada). However, a trip to Andrew’s hometown (in Alaska), offers up a few surprises.
- California for Clueless: This coming-of-age movie which is loosely based on Jane Austen’s Emma has stood the test of time. Rich high-school girl, Cher (Alicia Silverstone), is coming to terms with adolescence and all it entails while helping a new student gain popularity.
- Illinois for Sixteen Candles: An 80s classic and another coming-of-age movie, Sixteen Candles stars Molly Ringwald who plays Samantha. Samantha’s parents ignore her, and her private quiz answer ends up in the wrong hands, making her “sweet” 16 becomes anything but.
- New York for When Harry Met Sally: Released in 1989, this iconic film features Meg Ryan, Billy Crystal, and that infamous fake orgasm. It’s based on two college friends who try to figure out how they feel about one another when they are reunited several years after graduation.
- Pennsylvania for Silver Linings Playbook: The most modern movie of this bunch, Silver Linings Playbook is adapted from Matthew Quick’s novel. Featuring Bradley Cooper and Jennifer Lawrence (who won an Academy Award for her role), it follows Pat’s (Cooper) journey as he meets Tiffany (Lawrence) and tries to reconnect with his estranged wife.
- Washington for 10 Things I Hate About You: Based on Shakespeare’s Taming of the Shrew, this rom-com from the late 90s stars Julia Stiles and the late Heath Ledger.

Dunkaroos Are Coming Coming Back!
It you grew up in the 90’s, you probably remember the snack Dunk-A-Roos! I remember having them occasional, and they were delicious! If you don’t remember, the cookies are made in a variety of shapes, the most common being a circle with an uppercase “D” in the center. The cookies are meant to be dunked into the icing before eating. According to General Mills, they are coming back this summer sometime. They debuted in 1988, and went away in 2000.
