CMA Fest 2020 Has Been Canceled
Nashville’s 2020 CMA Fest on June 4-7 has been canceled. It will not be rescheduled.
The Country Music Association issued the following statement on March 31:
After careful deliberation, and in following the latest guidance from national, state and local authorities, we are sad to announce that CMA Fest will not take place in 2020.
Whether you planned to attend CMA Fest for the first time, or you have attended many times throughout the last 48 years, we know how special this festival is for Country Music fans around the globe and that many will be disappointed by this decision. As the world is still greatly affected by the spread of COVID-19, we cannot in good conscience risk the health and well-being of our fans, artists, staff and Country Music community.
We will honor four-day passes purchased for this year?s event for CMA Fest 2021. However, if you prefer a full refund, we will provide one upon request if your passes were purchased through Ticketmaster or the CMA Fest Box Office. Those who purchased passes through non-official channels should contact the seller directly. Within the next 24-48 hours, all four-day pass purchasers will receive an email with further instructions.
We greatly appreciate your understanding and patience, as our actions are always in the best interest of our Country Music community. In the coming weeks and months, we will continue to bring Country fans and artists together to celebrate the unique spirit and sense of unity that is at the heart of what CMA Fest stands for. We will also share information about future CMA events and ways to support those within our community affected by the COVID-19 pandemic.
Please keep yourself and your loved ones healthy and safe, and we hope you will join us for CMA Fest next year, June 10-13, 2021.
Each year, hundreds of artists performing at CMA Fest donate their time and talent so a portion of ticket proceeds can directly help enrich and sustain music education programs across the country through CMA?s nonprofit arm, the CMA Foundation. CMA Fest 2019 featured 11 official stages with more than 300 acts, including Carrie Underwood, Keith Urban, Miranda Lambert, Tim McGraw, Luke Combs, Eric Church, Maren Morris, Luke Bryan, Kane Brown and many more.

Thomas Rhett Teams With Reba Keith Urban and More for New Song -Be a Light
Thomas Rhett teamed with Reba McEntire, Lady Antebellum’s Hillary Scott, Chris Tomlin and Keith Urban to record a bright new tune, “Be a Light.”
Thomas Rhett, who is celebrating his 30th birthday today (March 30), co-penned the song with Josh Miller, Josh Thompson and Matt Dragstrem. TR and the song’s collaborators will donate all proceeds from “Be a Light” to the MusiCares COVID-19 Relief Fund, which was created by The Recording Academy to help people in the music industry affected by the coronavirus disease outbreak and subsequent cancellation of music events.
“I wrote ‘Be A Light’ last year as a way to process negativity and sadness I was seeing in the world,” says Thomas Rhett. “Now, as I sit in my home with my family on my 30th birthday, we are in the middle of a worldwide pandemic affecting every single human on earth, all while our town of Nashville is still healing from devastating tornadoes that destroyed so much of our city less than one month ago. But, among the wreckage, I see us come together in ways I never dreamed possible. I knew in my heart this was the time to share this message with the world and our community. The voices who join me on this track are some of the brightest lights I know. I hope this song serves as a reminder that we are all in this together.”

Captured snake gives birth to a two-headed snake
A snake catcher in Australia got a lot more than he bargained for when he was called out to relocate a female tiger snake last week.
When Stewy the Snake Catcher opened the bag to let the highly venomous snake out, he discovered that she’d actually given birth to several other snakes.
While it’s common for tiger snakes to give birth to live young, what surprised the snake catcher was that one of the babies had two heads.
A Facebook message posted by Direct Vet Services said that while the two-headed snake was a pretty remarkable find, it actually had to be euthanized.
The message said, “As cool as it was these animals are not generally viable so it was euthanized on humane grounds. Mum and the other kids were checked over and released, slithering off into the distance.”

Miranda Lambert Drops Stylish Bluebird Video
Miranda Lambert dropped a stylish new video for her current single, “Bluebird”.
“Bluebird, which Miranda co-wrote with Luke Dick and Natalie Hemby, is featured on her seventh studio, Wildcard, which was released in November 2019. The new single is currently No. 29 on the Billboard Country Airplay chart after 13 weeks.
“This song is special,” says Miranda. “It’s got this hope to it. It’s got a darkness too, though, but it’s also hopeful. Life is going to give you lemons, period. If there wasn’t problems then we wouldn’t appreciate the great days, but going through those things and overcoming problems–whatever they are–makes us strong and appreciate the sun. You know, it’s like ten straight days of rain and then the sun comes out and you’re like, ‘I forgot how much I loved it.’ Since we wrote ‘Bluebird,’ I’ve been seeing bluebirds everywhere. And the bluebirds have been there, but I never saw them like I see them now. It kinda reminds me to open my eyes to what’s around me.”

If you’re currently running low on toilet paper and don’t know if you’ll make it through your quarantine, there’s a new website that could help with that.

It also includes advanced settings that include sliders for wipes per trip, sheets per wipe, sheets on roll, the length of your quarantine and the amount of people in your household.
The website was created by London based student software developer Ben Sassoon and artist Sam Harris after they had a discussion about how much toilet paper they use daily and how that might change during the pandemic.
According to the website, the average user has 500 percent more toilet paper than they would need for quarantine.

Report: Tokyo Olympics will be postponed
UPDATE:The 2020 Summer Olympics in Tokyo is officially postponed.
Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe says he and International Olympic Committee president Thomas Bach have mutually agreed that it is in the athletes’ best interest to push the Games off until the summer of 2021. It marks the first time in Olympic history that a global health crisis has suspended the Games.
The announcement comes after mounting worldwide pressure to postpone the Olympics, and several nations vowing to skip the Games if it wasn’t postponed. (NBC News)
As the COVID-19 pandemic continues to cause big events all around the world to be cancelled or postponed, a lot of people have been wondering if the 2020 Tokyo Olympic Games will also be affected in some way.
While no decision has officially been made regarding a delay of the games, veteran International Olympic Committee (IOC) member Dick Pound tells USA Today Sports that he predicts the games will be postponed.
Pound tells the publication that, “On the basis of the information the IOC has, postponement has been decided. The parameters going forward have not been determined, but the Games are not going to start on July 24, that much I know.”
Pound’s comments came after the IOC released a statement that said “cancellation of the Tokyo 2020 Games is not on the agenda,” but also left the door open to postponement if it comes to that.
On Sunday (3/22), Canada said that they won’t send athletes to the Tokyo Games unless they are postponed for a year.

Kenny Rogers was born August 21st 1938 in Houston, Texas. He was the fourth of eight children born to Lucille and Edward Floyd Rogers.

Keith treated fans to a 30-minute concert via Instagram on March 16, performing a number of songs from his instrument/gear warehouse, including “Somebody Like You,” “Coming Home,” “Blue Ain’t Your Color,” “God Whispered Your Name” and more.
Keith’s in-person audience included wife Nicole Kidman, who did a bit of dancing, along with a camera operator and sound tech.
“We’re coming to you live from our warehouse, actually,” said Keith, in part, during the video. “I was supposed to be playing tonight and I just thought it would be nice to be able to play anyway, even though we can’t be in front of all you guys [in person] tonight, I wanted to be able to play, and just play some songs and bring a little bit of entertainment into your screens right now.”

Happy Birthday Paul Overstreet
Happy Birthday to country singer and song writer Paul Overstreet! He’s turning 65 today. He had run of hits in the late 80’s/early 90’s, but check his song writing credits….a ton of hits!
“During his songwriting career, primarily in the Country genre, Overstreet has written or co-written 27 Top Ten songs. During this time, he has won two Grammy Awards and also won ACM and CMA Song of the Year Awards (1987 and 1988). Overstreet was named the BMI Songwriter of the Year five straight years, from 1987 to 1991, an achievement on music row that has not been achieved before or since. He co-wrote “A Long Line of Love”, “Love Can Build a Bridge”, and “Forever and Ever, Amen”. Other well-known hits of recent years he is known for are “She Thinks My Tractor’s Sexy” by Kenny Chesney and “Some Beach” by Blake Shelton, which was a Number One hit in 2004.”
