There are plenty of everyday heroes out there these days – and Deb Siggins of Lisbon, Iowa, is one of them. Deb is doing her part to make sure her local neighbors and hospital staff have the masks they need — not only by donating hundreds of masks she has sewn herself to local hospitals in need, but hanging others on what she calls a “Giving Tree” near her house. The masks are free to anyone who needs them.
The tree, which is usually decorated by the Siggins family for the holidays, holds about 30 masks at a time, and Deb estimates she has sewn about 400 in the last month or so.
In a recent interview with Good Morning America, Deb said, “I just felt like [my sewing] is a gift that I could put towards other people, because it’s a gift that God has given me.”
Thank you, Deb — and everyone else doing their part to help their neighbors. This is what being “in this together” means
