How many egg nogs will you drink this holiday season?

A survey found that the average American will drink 6 spiked egg nogs – an estimated 1.2 billion eggnogs nationally. That number is a lot higher in Vermont, where people will have an average of 19 cups of egg nog cheer. Other survey findings:

• The acceptable time to start drinking over the holidays is 2:42 p.m., but 18% admit to starting before lunchtime.
• North Dakota is ranked as the drunkest state during the festive season, with an average of 8 boozy drinks per day per person.
• The mornings after July 4th, Christmas Day, Christmas Eve, St. Patrick’s Day, and Thanksgiving are notably prone to hangovers, with January 1st being the peak day for hangovers.
