The fourth-grade boy who recently got bullied for making his own University of Tennessee (UT) shirt to wear to school has now been offered a scholarship to attend UT.
On Thursday (9/12), UT announced that the boy has been awarded a four-year scholarship to the school covering his tuition and fees.
The school said that “should he decide to attend UT and meet admission requirements,” the boy’s scholarship would begin in the fall of 2028.
The story went viral after the Florida elementary student drew his own version of the UT logo on a piece of paper and pinned it to an orange T-shirt to wear during his school’s college colors day.
After hearing about the boy’s story, UT then turned his homemade design into an official school shirt and sold them online.
So far, more than 50,000 shirts featuring his design have been pre-sold by the VolShop, with all proceeds going directly to the charity Stomp Out Bullying.
