BRENT SASS won the Iditarod Trail Sled Dog Race for the first time Tuesday morning, crossing the finish line first in Nome, Alaska, after eight days, 14 hours, 38 minutes and 43 seconds. It was the seventh running of the sport’s most prestigious race for the 42-year-old Sass, whose previous best finish was third place last year. The nearly 1,000-mile race began March 6.
