A Texas man arrested in Indianapolis for allegedly stalking WNBA star Caitlin Clark was in court yesterday for his arraignment and turned it into a wild spectacle.
55-year-old Michael Lewis is charged with sending numerous threats and sexually explicit message to the Indiana Fever star. After the judge called Lewis’ case, the defendant immediately shouted, “guilty as charged!” and “throw me the booky!” The judge read through the charges, despite Lewis’ repeated attempts to interrupt. Each time he spoke out of turn, deputies approached him and told him not to interrupt.
Lewis was asked if he suffers from mental illness and he responded, “I need my medicines.” He also said he lives in his vehicle and has $100 to his name, which is why he has not hired an attorney. The judge entered a not guilty plea on his behalf and ordered him to be held on $50,000 bond, but Lewis told him, “I don’t want bond, bail, whatever. I’m here. I’m staying.” (NBC News)
