Viral Florida Man “LT. Dan” Is Safe After Riding Out Hurricane Milton in His Boat

A Florida man who goes by the nickname “Lieutenant Dan” says he’s safe and sound after riding out Hurricane Milton in his sailboat.

Florida man Joseph Malinowski, who earned his nickname as a nod to the Forrest Gump character, insisted on staying aboard his 20-foot boat while Hurricane Milton made landfall as a Category-3 storm.

But the internet fame for his questionable decision might actually be biting him in the butt. Turns out that 54-year-old Malinowski has been arrested over a dozen times, many of which have dealt with crimes against women. His numerous mugshots have been circulating online in response to a GoFundMe that was set up to raise money for Lt. Dan, calling him the “kindest soul” who is “always ready to lend a hand.
