For the first time in its 114-year history, the Boy Scouts of America is changing its name to Scouting America, in hopes of making more young people feel welcome to join. There are currently 1 million youths in the organization – including more than 176,000 girls and young women. The new name is in place to show that there’s a focus on inclusion. The message is that all young people can get involved and work toward the coveted Eagle Scout rank, regardless of gender or sexual orientation.
