A Boston man recently called 911 for something that wasn’t an emergency, which is a definite no-no. The call prompted a visit from police. But instead of coming to arrest him, they came to celebrate him.
A 25-year-old man named Chris called the emergency line and explained he was calling because he wanted someone to wish him a happy birthday. The dispatcher could tell from the caller’s voice that it wasn’t a prank call and that he genuinely just wanted birthday wishes.
Normally, officers might be dispatched to the caller’s home to explain that 911 is for emergencies only, but in this case, two officers showed up at Chris’ front door holding a muffin with a birthday candle in it.
Officer Israel Bracho and his partner Franklin Ortiz were greeted by Chris. They told him they were there for his 25th birthday and then serenaded him with a rendition of “Happy Birthday.”
Chris was all smiles as he blew out the candles on his muffin and then emphatically thanked the officers with handshakes.
For anyone looking to end their week on a positive note, look no further!
