Imagine taking a ride on a carousel and hopping up on a truck, an airplane, or a rainbow – instead of a colorful horse like you’ve come to expect. That’s the kind of merry-go-’round envisioned by PETA, which sent a letter to Chance Rides, the country’s largest manufacturer of amusement rides. The animal rights activists want the company to stop using animal designs on its carousels because it normalizes “the use of animals as conveyances and amusements.” Instead, they suggest using things like vehicles, spaceships, rainbows, and shooting stars. Chase Rides has not responded to PETA’s request.
