A California man noticed some woodpecker damage to the outside of his house and called in a pest control company to come and close up the holes. A worker took a close look and said the woodpecker poked holes in the house to store acorns and assumed he would likely find a few inside the walls. It turned out to be a lot more than a few. The worker cut a hole into the base of a wall and the acorns came pouring out… and pouring out… and pouring out. Woodpeckers had apparently been storing the nuts in there for a while because they filled up the entire space between the interior and exterior walls.
By the time all of the nuts were removed, they had gathered close to 700 pounds of them, filling up eight large trash bags. The homeowner has since gotten the holes closed up and installed new siding, which should discourage the busy woodpecker from returning.
