Severe Storms Possible Tue Night/Wed Afternoon – Strong Winds Thu

Severe weather will be possible Tuesday night across much of the region. Large hail looks to be the main threat. Damaging winds and possibly a few tornadoes could also occur along and south of Interstate 90.

The threat of severe weather may linger into Wednesday east of the Mississippi River but will hinge on how Tuesday's weather unfolds.

Strong winds develop Thursday with winds gusting from 40 to 50 mph.

Tuesday Night: Severe Storms Possible

  • What: Severe storms possible. Large hail the main threat. A few tornadoes or wind damage cannot be ruled out south of Interstate 90

  • Timing: 8 pm to 2 am
  • Impacts: hail damage to property, crops possible. Winds could damage trees, down power lines

Wednesday Afternoon: More Storms, Severe Threat

  • What: a few strong, possibly severe storms
  • Where: east of the Mississippi River
  • Timing: noon to 5 pm
  • Impacts: hail damage to property, crops possible. Winds could damage trees, down power lines
  • ACTION: stay weather aware! Take shelter when storms approach

Thursday: Windy!

  • What: strong winds gusting 40 to 50 mph.
  • Where: entire area
  • Timing: through the day Thursday
  • Impacts: high profile vehicles may encounter difficult travel (especially along north-south running roads). Outdoor furniture, loose objects likely to get blown around
  • ACTION: secure lightweight, outdoor objects (such as garbage cans). Be prepared for difficult driving conditions, especially open areas
