Icing Tonight North of I-94, Snow Wed Night-Thu Morning

Freezing rain will fall across much of northern Wisconsin later tonight, locally impacting locations north of Interstate 94. Untreated roads and other cold surfaces will become ice covered. Travel will be slippery to hazardous, likely including the Wed morning commute. Downed branches and maybe some localized power outages could occur. A Winter Weather Advisory is in effect tonight for Clark and Taylor Counties.

There will be periods of rain on Wednesday and then the precipitation will change over to snow Wednesday night and continue into Thursday morning. A few inches of wet snow are possible, mostly on cold, grassy surfaces.

Tonight: Icing North Of I-94
  • Icing: Freezing rain, generally north of I-94.Icing up to 2/10" north of Wisconsin Highway 29.
  • Impacts: Untreated roads and other cold, elevated surfaces will become ice-covered and slippery/hazardous. The Wed morning commute will be impacted.
  • ACTION: Anticipate slippery to hazardous travel. Check on road conditions before venturing out and adjust, delay or cancel plans if conditions warrant. Icing could bring down branches and maybe cause some isolated power outages.

Wed Night-Thu Morning: Snow, Wintry Mix

  • What: Rain changing to snow. A few inches of snow accumulation on grassy, cold surfaces.
  • Where: Entire area
  • Impacts: Potential for slippery travel where snow accumulates on roads. Reduced visibilities at times.
