Very Strong Winds Expected Wednesday Afternoon and Night

A storm system will pass across the region and produce a period a very strong winds late Wednesday afternoon through the night. The winds will start out of the south Wednesday afternoon and then swing around to the west late Wednesday evening through the overnight hours. Wind gusts of 55 to 60 mph will be possible, mainly after sunset.

These winds may be strong enough to produce power outages and damage property.  Driving may be difficult, especially for high-profile vehicles.  Secure loose objects and holiday decorations.

A High Wind Watch is in effect for the entire area.

 

Wednesday Afternoon-Night: Strong Winds

  • What: winds 25 to 35 mph with gusts of 55 to 60 mph.  The winds will be from the south Wednesday afternoon/early evening and then swing around to the west.
  • Where: Entire area.
  • Timing: Late Wednesday afternoon through the night.
  • Impacts: Damaging winds could blow down trees and power lines. Widespread power outages are possible. Travel could be difficult, especially for high-profile vehicles.
  • ACTION: Secure loose objects and holiday decorations. If traveling, be prepared for strong winds.
