NEW HAMPTON, Iowa – July 13, 2021 – A hot-mix asphalt resurfacing project on U.S. 52, just south of the intersection with U.S. 18 in Clayton County, will require intermittent lane closures beginning on Friday, July 16, until Friday, July 30, weather permitting, according to the Iowa Department of Transportation’s New Hampton construction office.
During this project, traffic will be controlled with flaggers while workers are present. Digital message boards will be in place to provide motorists advanced notice of the work zone.
The Iowa DOT reminds motorists to drive with caution, obey the posted speed limit and other signs in the work area, and be aware that traffic fines for moving violations are at least double in work zones. As in all work zones, drivers should stay alert, allow ample space between vehicles, and wear seat belts.
